Writing is often solitary work, and summers can especially feel lonely for faculty working on their scholarship. That's what the University Writing Program and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) wanted to combat when they partnered to offer GW faculty a three-day retreat in early June.
Each day, approximately 80 GW faculty from all across the university gathered in Post Hall on the Mount Vernon campus (the UWP's home) to discuss their scholarship, talk through challenges in their research, build community, and, most of all, write.
Facilitated by UWP Professors Jessica McCaughey and Danika Myers, this is the third such retreat that the UWP has hosted in partnership with OVPR, and based on faculty feedback about their productivity and energy at the event, we hope to host these retreats three times each year.
