Professor Quave Publishes New Article on the Role of Ethics Education in College Anthropology Programs

With co-authors Ezra Kucur and Dr. Sarah Kennedy (both of Carleton College), Prof. Quave has published a new study surveying the state of college anthropology programs in relation to ethics education. Anthropologists, including archaeologists, have long held that students should be taught about the history of anthropological ethics and its role in the creation of knowledge in the discipline. While anthropologists often address ethical concerns in research, there is relatively little attention paid to centering the role of ethics in undergraduate courses. The survey showed low visibility of ethics education in US anthropology majors in minors across types of institutions.
