The 2021 Conference on Community Writing was held virtually on Thursday, Oct 21 - Saturday, Oct 23, 2021. The theme, “Weaving Narratives For Social Justice Action In The Local, National, Global,” highlighted the unique ethos of our host city, DC and the broader DC-Maryland-Virginia area. Our keynote speaker, Winona LaDuke, reflected on her own writing process and the interplay among writing and activism. CCW 2021 was well-attended, with almost 200 more participants than previous years, including more community organizations.  Many attendees remarked that CCW created an intimate, energetic space, where a community of scholar-activists-citizens came to share knowledge and strategy.

The conference was co-hosted by The George Washington University with generous support from the University Writing Program and the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service.
